POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR JANUARY 2019

We’re looking for CLINIC/OUTREACH SUPERVISORS, PRIMARY INSTRUCTORS AND TEACHING ASSISTANTS. Clinic Supervisors and Teaching Assistants must be registered massage therapists with three (3) or more years experience, in good standing with the CMTBC, and hold an up-to-date first aid & CPR certificate. Applicants must have a vested interest in the development of future RMTs and an interest in working in a collaborative team environment.

PRIMARY INSTRUCTORS:  The West Coast College of Massage is seeking a primary instructor in our academic department. We are an established National College with 2 campuses in BC. Our faculty consist of exemplary instructors from a variety of different health professions. WCCMT offers our instructors educational support, resources and professional development opportunities. All applicants must have the following requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree
  • 2 years experience working in their field of study.
  • A strong foundation in human anatomy and kinesiology

Anatomy & Physiology 4 Instructor

Hiring Manager: Julie Taggart

Start Date: September 2019

Hours: 42 hours (13 classes)

 Course Description: Following Anatomy & Physiology 1-3, students will continue to build on their knowledge at the organ level of human body organization. The focus of this course is on human anatomy and physiology as it applies to the endocrine system, male and female reproductive systems, pregnancy and development. Students will continue to develop their knowledge of medical terminology and how the anatomy and physiology of the systems and processes covered in this course integrate with the whole body and apply to massage therapy.

Job Description:

  • Planning, delivery and instruction of course material
  • Accessibility to students, answering questions regarding course material

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Health Science Degree or bachelor’s degree in another health science discipline.
  • Strong understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the body systems, particularly the endocrine and reproductive systems.

Assets:

  • Instructional experience an asset
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • MS office knowledge including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Orthopedic Pathology Instructor

Hiring Manager: Julie Taggart

Start Date: September 2019

Hours: 45 hours (15 classes)

 Course Description: This course focuses on structural and degenerative musculoskeletal pathologies of the spine, upper and lower extremities and the body’s response in terms of wound healing. Students will learn to recognize common symptoms and signs of illness and begin to understand the nature of musculoskeletal diseases. Students will develop the ability to correctly distinguish indications and contraindications for massage therapy in relation to diseases.

CLINIC/OUTREACH SUPERVISOR: Assist and support students in applying their theoretical knowledge to the practice of massage therapy and work towards integration of the educational program as a whole. Perform direct student supervision including tutorial instruction, treatment demonstration, student evaluation and feedback, both on-site and outreach clinical settings, as set out in the practicum instruction schedule.

TEACHING ASSISTANT: Assist the primary instructor in all aspects of curriculum presentation in the classroom including practical demonstration, tutorial assistance, attendance records, audio-visual technical assistance and general duties that may arise in the classroom, as directed by the primary instructor for the smooth operation and organization of classes.
