Clinical Internship / Work Experience

The clinical internship is a cornerstone of WCCMT’s Registered Massage Therapy program.

Students gain hands-on experience, refine their skills, and apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting

Under the guidance of experienced RMT instructors who are active in clinical practice, students provide hands-on massage therapy treatments to members of the public in our professional clinics and through our Outreach Program.

Clinical placements are integrated into our competency-based Massage Therapy program beginning in Term 2. Students complete 500 clinical hours (330 direct and 170 indirect), which are required for graduation.

Public Clinic

Our public clinics are conveniently located on campus at our New Westminster and Victoria Campuses.

Outreach Clinics

The outreach work experience program provides students the opportunity to provide massage therapy treatments across a variety of community settings, working with a diverse range of patient populations and conditions they may not encounter in the public clinic.

Our outreach program is well established, combining long-standing partnerships with a growing network of new community collaborations.

Students regularly participate in placements such as senior and long-term care facilities, where they work with complex care populations; athletic environments and events, supporting high-performance athletes in conditioning and recovery; and hospitals.
