At WCCMT, we’re passionate about doing what we can to reduce our carbon footprint. As reviewed in a previous blog post, WCCMT has implemented numerous green initiatives in attempt to reduce, recycle and reuse.

One of our more recent initiatives is the utilization of  wheat sheet, copy paper made from the residue waste of wheat straw. Faculty will often opt to use this instead of the standard copy paper as it truly is ‘the best alternative to not printing’.

In addition to using wheat sheet copy paper, we’ve been committed to recycling cans, bottles, paper and cardboard AND because of this, last year we were able to save a great deal of water, trees and electricity (according to stats above provided by Urban Impact).

coming soonWhile we have already started posting course/clinic schedules and grade notifications to our website, we are pleased to announce that course materials will also be accessible online to new students. This Paperless Initiative will be commencing May 2015 and will tackle the reducing component to our ‘Green Movement’. Starting at that time, course handouts will only be available via our website to students entering the RMT program May 2015 or later. Students having entered the program earlier will continue to receive materials in paper format.

Because we want to extend the paperless initiative to other areas where reducing is possible, we are also looking into other options for minimizing the paper consumption on campus. Suggestions from students, faculty and alumni are welcome and would be greatly appreciated!

If you have a suggestion, please send an email to [email protected]
