The 2013 Harry Goldstein Memorial Leadership Award was awarded to David Huang on April 25th, 2014 at our latest graduation ceremony.
The honour is conferred in memory of Harry Goldstein (Nov 7, 1920–September 3, 2013).
Harry Goldstein was a successful business man, beloved father and grandfather and humanitarian.
Harry Goldstein (November 7, 1920 – September 3, 2013) was a successful businessman, beloved father and grandfather and most important of all a man and human being of great character and integrity. It is in this spirit that we award the student who best exemplifies the qualities of optimism, caring, compassion, integrity and always going the extra mile for the college and/or the profession of massage therapy.
David Huang epitomizes all of these characteristics, which made making him our inaugural honoree an easy choice to make.
He displayed his passion for massage therapy at his graduation ceremony, tell us that he chose this career two years ago because, “it’s a respected profession, something my family can be proud of.”
And now that he’s put in months upon months of hard work, he’s ready to reap the rewards. “I feel my job and my life is no longer just a job, it’s a career,” he said. “It’s something that I’ll probably be doing for a very long time. I enjoy helping people, and that’s something this job will allow me to do.”
So where will the future take this bright student?
“In two-three years I will probably own my own business, I will be wildly successful… or not,” he joked. “But I’ll be very happy with where I am in life. I see this as the first step in a very long journey, but I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.”
WCCMT is proud that David is a WCCMT grad and confident that he will be an RMT who will make an important difference for his patients and his community.
