Perhaps you’ve always wanted to work in healthcare. Or maybe you’ve had a positive experience with a Massage Therapist, whose work helped you avoid surgery. Whatever the case may be, Massage Therapy is a rewarding career that offers many opportunities.

Becoming a Registered Massage Therapist in Nova Scotia is a straightforward process. It takes determination, hard work and, of course, a diploma from a registered Massage Therapy institution such as CCMH.

Step One: Choose a College Program

After you’ve done your research into the various schools that offer diplomas in Massage Therapy, it’s important to assess which school is right for you. This will not only inform your skills as a Registered Massage Therapist, but will also provide you with a network of fellow professionals and mentors as you begin your career.

There are plenty of reasons to choose CCMH to study Massage Therapy. As a family of schools, with five campuses across Canada, we offer our graduates access to a variety of job opportunities throughout Canada.

Step Two: Apply

We have two start dates for in person classes and one online start date – and you’ll need to get paperwork in order before you apply. Our admissions team at CCMH is always happy to help new students in their applications process. We offer a “Student for a Day” experience that helps prospective students gain insight into what studying at CCMH is like!

Step Three: Study Hard and Get Involved!

In addition to traditional textbook studying, CCMH offers a variety of outreach programs for students looking to gain real-world skills as they study. Our students have helped out at sporting events, hospitals and community events to gain experience working with members of the public. Our professional intern clinic program is very popular, and offers practical training to prepare you for a career in a clinic environment.

Step Four: Get Registered

In Nova Scotia, the Massage Therapy profession is governed by the Massage Therapists’
Association of Nova Scotia
, which has established standards of practice for those practicing Massage Therapy in this province. Once you’ve completed your diploma, it is recommended that you register with MTANS before practicing Massage Therapy. Once you’re a member, you’ll be a part of a network of other professionals and have access to Continuing Education Courses.

Massage Therapy offers a fulfilling career for those willing to follow these steps. Once you’ve become a Registered Massage Therapist, your options are limitless!
